About Me
Hello! My name is Bob Deemer, and I like to think of myself as a pretty good poker player. I started to play poker seriously in 2002 when Chris Moneymaker won the World Series of Poker.
Seeing Chris win the WSOP rekindled my interest in playing cards. I started playing online. Soon, I had lost $100, then $500, then $1000. Before too long, I down about $2500. I had to make a decision. Either learn how to play poker correctly, or quit.
As you can probably guess, I decided to learn how to play the game. I started to read any books that I could get my hands on. I quickly plugged holes in my game and stopped the bleeding of money. I continued to play, study, and learn.
After I got familiar with the basics, I decided to attend a World Poker Tour bootcamp. This camp was about the basics of tournament play. Nine months later, I attended the World Poker Tour Champions Camp - which is an advanced tournament camp. These two camps gave me a very solid foundation for tournament play.
For another year, I continued to play, study, and learn the nuances of Holdem. I was very confident in my tournament game, but had holes in my cash game that were frustrating me. So, I decided to attend yet another WPT Bootcamp - this time it was the Cash Camp. I immediately learned several things that have literally saved me thousands of dollars.
In about 2007, I grew tired of playing Texas Holdem exclusivley. I decided to play Omaha High-Low to vary things. This time, I knew that I would have to learn about the game rather than just jumping in and hoping for the best. Before too long, I mastered Omaha H/L to a fairly good degree. I also realized that other poker games could be fairly lucrative. I the decided to learn the HORSE games, and soon became a fairly competent HORSE player. I do well in most of the HORSE tournaments that I play in.
To this day, I continue to study and learn those five games. Additionally, I learn about other games such as Badugi, Triple Draw Lowball, and Pot Limit Omaha. Learning other games definitely makes you more of a well-rounded poker player.
Through all of this, I decided that I would like to play in the World Series of Poker main event. In reality, I would like to spend several weeks there and play in multiple events, win a million bucks and become a professional poker player. Who wouldn't? :) The only way that I could ever be able to play in all those tournaments is to get staked. Being an unknown, it is virtually impossible to get staked. Then the idea for this website came about. What if I could trade my way to the main event? I could trade something that I do not want or need for something more valuable that somebody else does not want or need. If I keep doing this process, at some point, I should have some item that somebody would pay $10,000 for.
And thus it begins - my journey to the WSOP.
